The situation. A third-party logistics operator in the UAE ran several client accounts out of a single Dubai facility on spreadsheets and a legacy stock tool. Stock was tracked only to location, not to bin, so pickers hunted for goods and mis-picks were common. Carrier bookings were manual, and each client wanted its own inventory and billing visibility that the operator could not easily produce. Peak-season throughput was capped by how fast the floor team could work on paper.
What we did. We implemented iDempiere Warehouse Management and Inventory Management with a full bin structure, directed put-away and wave picking driven by Storage On Hand and Product Attribute Sets for lot and serial control. Multi-org configuration isolated each logistics client's stock and billing. We rolled out iDempiere Mobile for barcode-driven receiving, picking, packing and despatch confirmation, so the floor team stopped carrying paper. Carrier integration automated label generation and booking with the operator's shipping partners, and Dashboards & Analytics gave each client a scheduled inventory and activity pack.
What changed. Despatch accuracy improved from roughly 94% to over 99% within a quarter, and put-away and pick times fell noticeably once staff followed system-directed routes rather than memory. Billing by storage, handling and movement became a report rather than a monthly spreadsheet reconstruction. The operator onboarded new logistics clients faster because a new account was now a configuration exercise, not a new spreadsheet regime.
A large industrial group consolidates two countries on one ledger
The situation. A large-scale industrial group operating manufacturing and distribution entities in both India and the United States had grown through a patchwork of disconnected systems. Each entity closed its books separately, group consolidation was a quarterly spreadsheet ordeal, and intercompany transactions were reconciled by hand. Leadership wanted one platform, a single reporting currency for the group, and local statutory compliance in each country without maintaining two entirely separate systems.
What we did. We delivered a multi-entity iDempiere rollout using its native multi-org and multi-currency model, with a shared Accounting Schema and per-entity ledgers rolling up to a group consolidation. Financial Management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Inventory Management were standardised across sites, while local tax — Indian GST on one side, US sales tax handling on the other — was layered on as configuration and OSGi extensions rather than forks. Intercompany flows were automated so a shipment in one org raised the matching documents in the other. Master data was migrated, reconciled and signed off across two UAT cycles before a phased, entity-by-entity cutover.
What changed. The group close shortened materially once consolidation ran inside iDempiere instead of across spreadsheets, and intercompany balances stopped drifting because both sides posted from the same transaction. Executives got a consolidated, multi-currency view through Dashboards & Analytics without waiting for manual roll-ups. Standardising processes across both countries also made audit preparation calmer on both sides.
A Lebanon team builds its own iDempiere capability
The situation. An organisation in Lebanon had chosen iDempiere precisely because it wanted to own and run the platform internally rather than depend on outside consultants for every change. The gap was skills: the team understood their business processes well but had no hands-on experience with iDempiere's Application Dictionary, its document workflow, or the OSGi development model. They needed to be self-sufficient for day-to-day configuration and confident enough to build their own extensions.
What we did. We ran a structured functional and technical training programme split into two tracks. The functional track covered the document flow across Sales & Order Management, purchasing, inventory and the Accounting Schema, plus how to configure windows, fields, validation rules and workflows through the Application Dictionary without touching code. The technical track covered the OSGi plugin structure, callouts, model validators, custom processes and BIRT/JasperReports development, with each participant building and deploying a working extension against a sandbox instance. Sessions mixed instructor-led walkthroughs with graded hands-on exercises drawn from the client's own scenarios.
What changed. The team moved from dependence to self-service for routine configuration, handling their own field additions, report tweaks and workflow changes without raising a ticket. Because they learned the upgrade-safe patterns from the start — metadata and plugins, never core patches — the customisations they went on to build stayed compatible with later iDempiere versions. We remained available for design review and complex work, but the day-to-day ownership had genuinely transferred.
A Kuwait 3PL adds a self-service portal on top of iDempiere
The situation. A logistics and fulfilment operator in Kuwait handled inbound stock and outbound orders for a set of retail and eCommerce clients, but those clients had no direct visibility. Every stock query, order status check and new order arrived by phone or email, and the operator's staff spent hours each day answering them. The operator wanted its clients to place and track orders themselves, while keeping iDempiere as the single source of truth for stock and fulfilment.
What we did. We tightened the fulfilment operation first — Warehouse Management and Sales & Order Management configured for pick, pack and despatch with iDempiere Mobile on the floor — then built a custom customer web portal on top of iDempiere's REST API. Each client logs in to see live stock, raise orders that flow straight into iDempiere as sales orders, and track fulfilment status in real time. The portal respected the same roles and org boundaries as the ERP, so each client saw only its own inventory and orders. Order confirmations and despatch notifications were automated.
What changed. The flood of status enquiries dropped sharply as clients answered their own questions through the portal, freeing the operator's team for actual fulfilment work. Orders arrived structured and complete, which cut keying errors and sped up the pick-to-despatch cycle. Offering a self-service portal also became a selling point when the operator pitched for new logistics clients.
An India pharma distributor gets GST e-invoicing and batch traceability
The situation. A pharmaceutical distributor in India faced two hard requirements at once: full statutory GST compliance including e-invoicing and e-way bills, and rigorous batch and expiry control for the products it moved. Its previous system generated invoices that then had to be re-keyed into government portals, and batch and expiry data lived in side spreadsheets, which made recall readiness and near-expiry management stressful and error-prone.
What we did. We deployed our GST localization on iDempiere covering CGST/SGST/IGST determination, HSN/SAC coding, e-invoice IRN generation via the IRP and e-way bill creation, with GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B extracts — so a posted C_Invoice produces a compliant e-invoice without re-keying. For traceability we used Product Attribute Sets to make batch number and expiry date first-class attributes on every M_InOut receipt and despatch, with FEFO (first-expiry-first-out) allocation so near-expiry stock moves first. Inventory Management and Accounts Receivable were configured around these rules, and Dashboards & Analytics produced batch genealogy and expiry-ageing packs.
What changed. E-invoicing became a by-product of normal invoicing rather than a separate portal chore, removing a whole class of re-keying errors and compliance risk. Batch and expiry visibility moved from spreadsheets into the ledger, so recall traceability and near-expiry write-off management became routine reports. FEFO allocation reduced the value of stock lost to expiry, and audit and regulatory queries could be answered from the system directly.
A USA distributor connects Shopify and multiple carriers to iDempiere
The situation. A distribution business in the United States sold through a Shopify storefront but ran fulfilment and accounting on iDempiere, with a manual bridge between the two. Orders were exported and re-entered, stock levels on the store lagged reality, and shipping was booked one order at a time across several carriers. As order volume grew, the manual steps became a bottleneck and a source of oversells and mis-ships.
What we did. We built a bidirectional integration between Shopify and iDempiere: web orders flow in automatically as sales orders, and Storage On Hand is pushed back to Shopify so the storefront reflects real availability. We added multi-carrier shipping so that, at pack time, the system rates and books the appropriate carrier, prints the label and writes the tracking number back to both iDempiere and the Shopify order, triggering the customer notification. Sales & Order Management and Inventory Management anchored the flow, and iDempiere Mobile handled barcode picking and despatch on the floor. Marketplace settlements were reconciled against C_Invoice records.
What changed. Order-to-despatch stopped depending on manual re-entry, so throughput scaled with headcount instead of stalling on data entry. Live stock sync cut oversells, and automated multi-carrier booking removed a slow manual step at the busiest point of the day. Finance gained a clean reconciliation between store settlements and the ledger rather than a monthly guessing exercise.
Honest about what we can and cannot share
Every client above asked to remain unnamed, and we honour that. For the same reason we do not publish precise revenue figures, exact transaction volumes or named references on a public page — anything specific enough to identify a client would break that trust. The metrics here are illustrative ranges that reflect the direction and scale of the change, not audited statistics. In a scoped conversation, under NDA, we can talk through comparable engagements in far more detail and, where a client agrees, arrange a direct reference.
The mobile app changed the warehouse. Pickers stopped carrying paper, and our despatch accuracy went from 94% to 99.4% in one quarter.
